Jude Hutchens ‘A Colour Chart for Killing’ (exhibition in Bristol Central Library, College Green, Bristol BS1 5TL running 1 April – 3 May)

Bristol artist Jude Hutchen brings the military platform of UK culture to visibility – at home.  Directed by her experiences working in post war Bosnia and Susan Sontag’s writing on representations of suffering she presents the ideas behind her current exhibition in Central library.

Subverting the grand theme of ‘War’ in Art History she has developed an ethical manifesto for her practise.  Imagery from the housing market and home decorating is plundered to provoke questions about personal responsibility for mass violence – connecting our quality of life to its reliance on the military industrial complex.
