Basketmaking and Willow Growing in the First World War

A pop-up exhibition about Basketry Then and Now – a project exploring the history and legacy of basketmaking and willow growing during the First World War. A talk about the work of the project will be repeated at regular intervals throughout the day, and there will be screenings of the films produced by the project. There will also be opportunities to look around the Willow and Wetlands Visitor Centre, Basket Museum and Shop.
The event is held in conjunction with a two-day course to make a small double-tiered pigeon basket, a replica of one held by the Imperial War Museum at Duxford and used in the First World War.
