RESEARCH INTERESTS
I study the British Soldier during the First World War, with special attention paid to the Scottish experience. Attempting to change traditional military history through viewing engagements via holistic explanations, not narrations. I am a military historian from the US, currently studying in Scotland. I am working on a project following four battalions of the Cameron Highlanders through 1916 and exploring their actions and reactions as officers and men change through the period before, during, and after the Somme. I have a deep interest in all things British from both a military and social standpoint, as well as exploring and arguing for the rightful place of the American Expeditionary Force in the discussions of First World War academia.
