RESEARCH INTERESTS
I am a part-time doctoral candidate in modern history, researching the ex-service organisations that emerged during and shortly after the First World War, most of which amalgamated to form the British Legion in 1921. I am also an independent radio producer, making programmes mainly for BBC Radio 4 and World Service, and the two roles often overlap. In the past I published ‘Electronic Brains’ (Granta 2005) about the early computer pioneers, a development of a series I had made earlier for Radio 4. I have also published academically on the history of local authority film censorship.
