Pigeon Basket Course
A two-day course to make a small double-tiered pigeon basket, a replica of one held by the Imperial War Museum at Duxford, Cambridgeshire. Baskets of this type were used in World War One. The course is suitable for those with some basketry experience. Basketmaking and Willow Growing in the First World War
A pop-up exhibition about Basketry Then and Now - a project exploring the history and legacy of basketmaking and willow growing during the First World War. Basketmaking in Castle Donington and the East Midlands
A weekend celebration of the willow growing and basketmaking history of Castle Donington and the East Midlands, including displays, talks, demonstrations, a drop-in workshop, film screenings and a guided willow walk around the village. The event is part of the Basketry Then and Now project.
