Chris Baker, ‘Blood Money – Britain fights the economic war’, Herts at War series
May 14, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Herts at War has announced a new series of talks in conjunction with project partners at Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation, St Christopher School and David’s Bookshop Letchworth.
As an organisation dedicated to raising awareness of the experiences of Hertfordshire’s residents throughout the Great War, both in Hertfordshire and on the fighting Front, Herts at War have constructed a series of talks featuring top speakers from around the UK. These FREE talks are designed to provide interesting and enjoyable one-off events on the 2nd Thursday of each month throughout 2015.
With the spotlight firmly on the Great War in the first full year of the centenary of the conflict, the speakers will challenge preconceptions, share their immense knowledge and provide an enjoyable and challenging experience for both the amateur and expert alike.
We are very pleased to be joined by one of Britain’s foremost military researchers and historians in Chris Baker for our talk on 14th May. Chris’ talk entitled ‘Blood Money – Britain fights the economic war’ will explore and question many of the aspects of The Great War that we often take for granted.
As a published author and founder of both the Great War Forum and the Long Long Trail website, Chris has undertaken more individual First World War research projects than any other individual and his knowledge excels accordingly. This is certainly not one to miss!
The event is to be held at The Theatre, St Christopher School, Barrington Road, Letchworth Garden City, Herts, SG6 3JZ, arrival at 7pm with the talk commencing at 7.30.
This event is FREE and is the fifth of a series of talks planned by the Herts at War Project for 2015.
