Dan Hill, ‘The Herts Guards’, Herts at War series

July 9, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Herts at War has announced a new series of talks in conjunction with project partners at Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation, St Christopher School and David’s Bookshop Letchworth.

As an organisation dedicated to raising awareness of the experiences of Hertfordshire’s residents throughout the Great War, both in Hertfordshire and on the fighting Front, Herts at War have constructed a series of talks featuring top speakers from around the UK. These FREE talks are designed to provide interesting and enjoyable one-off events on the 2nd Thursday of each month throughout 2015.

With the spotlight firmly on the Great War in the first full year of the centenary of the conflict, the speakers will challenge preconceptions, share their immense knowledge and provide an enjoyable and challenging experience for both the amateur and expert alike.

Herts at War Project Officer and military history researcher Dan Hill will lead July’s talk with an in-depth look at the Hertfordshire Regiment in the Great War from their arrival on the Western Front in November 1914 to the Armistice.

Dan is a founder member of the Herts at War Project and has worked as a historical researcher, writer and outreach officer before his current role. Introducing much previously unseen material from personal and public archives, this talk promises to be an interesting account of the Herts Guards in The Great War.

Dan will be speaking on Thursday 9th July 2015.

The event is to be held at The Theatre, St Christopher School, Barrington Road, Letchworth Garden City, Herts, SG6 3JZ, arrival at 7pm with the talk commencing at 7.30.

This event is FREE and is the seventh of a series of talks planned by the Herts at War Project for 2015.
